A Note from our Prez
We have a little business to take care of at the beginning. It would be great to get a report from Lois and Anita, who attended the gathering in Las Vegas this past weekend. It looked like they took lots of classes, saw old friends, made new ones, and had a really good time. Member Sue Palmer was there also and will return to us in June, hopefully at the picnic. Also, I hear that some of our members won BIG ribbons at the Wyoming Garden Show. Congratulations to Lois Rentz and Elizabeth Page.
At this next meeting in April, we will be learning something new: how to make your own paper! I will bring all the necessary equipment to make your own piece of paper. I think this can be very beneficial in translating this to glass or just making collages with glass. The sky is open. Anytime you can learn a new medium and technique is worthwhile as most can be translated into your own language of doing art. You can add things to the wet paper pulp before it dries and press it into the paper. So, bring string, pressed flowers, grass, anything organic, glitter, pearl ex or inks, or whatever you would like to experiment with. You can make as many pieces as you want. I will bring a lot of newsprint we can turn into pulp. This should be a fun meeting but messy. So, wear clothes you don’t mind getting wet. The weather looks to be sunny and warm, so we can do this outside, and the pulp should dry quickly. I also have some molds you can use to push the pulp into to make a positive in your paper (masks included).
Because of Mother’s Day being on the second Sunday in May, our May meeting will be on Sunday, May 4. If you bring your paper objects you made in April, we can paint them during this meeting. Bring paints and brushes or whatever you would like to experiment with in finishing your paper creations. Bring chips and dips and Mexican treats to this meeting as it is close to May 5th.
Our June picnic will be Sunday, June 8, at the home of Leslie Bitgood, at 1:00PM. More information on that in the next newsletter. Just save the date.
Hope to see a lot of you at the April meeting and wear “I can get messy” clothes! As usual, please bring a little something eatable to share and a fun, creative mind. These are always fun meetings with lots of laughter. See you then.

Touch of Glass GAC Exhibit
Show time!
Our Touch of Glass exhibit will be held July 26 - August 30 in the Acorn Exhibit Space at the Lakewood Arts Gallery, 6501 W. Colfax, Lakewood.
This show is open to any member of the Glass Artists of Colorado. Cost to enter: $10 per piece, limit 3. Gallery Commission $25. Application forms will be available in May at GAC meeting.
To get a feel for the space, you may want to drop by the Lakewood Art Center. There is currently a Mosaic show in the space through April 25. This will give you a good idea of how we will be able to utilize the space.
Lois would like to get an idea of who is interested. Please email rlrentz@comcast.net if you plan to submit a piece.

You Say Goodbye, I Say Hello
Hugs and Welcomes All Around
Our “party” at D&L last meeting was very meaningful. We sent lots of good wishes to Leslie Silverman as she moves forward with her retirement and said hello to the new owners, Meggy Wilm and Dustin Mayfield. I received a beautiful thank you card from them and will share it with you at the next meeting. Thank you to all who came. I know it meant a lot to them.
Tips, Tricks and Artsy Stuff
Feeding Our Creative Mind
At a recent meeting we had an opportunity to dabble with inks. In this video shows how members were able to experiment with watery color-flow and consider how it could be recreated in glass.
We will be adding a tips and tricks section to our newsletters. If you have a tip that you would like to share, please reach out to Gwendolyn Morgan at designer@mountaingirlglass.com
