Notes from our Prez
At the next meeting, we will be organizing Echter’s “Glass At The Garden” Show. We need to get our various jobs in line with volunteers set. I will also have the applications for Echter’s. You will need to submit these applications at least a week ahead of time so that tables can be arranged and we know how many pieces will be in the art show. Also, if anything needs to be preordered, such as bags, tissue paper, desk supplies, hanging equipment, etc. Or any new vinyl posters need to be made. Or, if any rules need to be rewritten. The drop off date is Thursday, November 6th. Friday is the soft opening and judging, and Saturday is the official opening. The show will end on Sunday, November 16th, at 3:30. Mark these dates on your calendar now, please.
We also need to discuss whether members would like to rent the West Gallery at D’Art Gallery. I will have pictures of the gallery space, costs, and times still available at this meeting. There has been a great interest in this from some members, so the possibility is there. Also, Lois will give us a report on the Lakewood Arts Center Show. We did not sign up for another one. Reasons why will be explained at this meeting.
As of this writing, I have NOT received any of the children’s drawings for ARTMA yet, although I have asked repeatedly. I will physically visit with the Foundation on Monday or Tuesday and get some sort of deadline in place. If none have come by the next meeting, we might have to have a special meeting with the drawings so you can choose. We might also offer a zoom meeting where I can show them to you so you can choose. I’ll keep you informed. This part is out of my hands, and I am doing all I can to get them to you as fast as possible. Thank you for your patience.
Hope to see you Sunday, September 14th. Bring your patience with you, as we have a lot to discuss.

Green Thumbs in Glass
White Elephant Plant Swap
Lots and lots of green! Yes, Glassies can have a green thumb which we learned through the highly competitive White Elephant Plant Swap during our August meeting.
All had fun and possibly a little 'frustration'. Gwendolyn is still not over from the loss she endured ... lolol

Tips & Tricks
In our quest to produce a smooth undersurface when fusing, this is an interesting technique. Using glass as your kiln shelf. Yes ... you heard me right .. using glass as the kiln shelf.
This method uses float glass on top of a kiln shelf to create a smooth bottom to your art glass.
Check it out.
PS ... Do you have a great tip to share? Pass it on to Gwendolyn.
- Wait! How did you do that?!?!
- Let's break it down .....

Pilchuck Casting Conference 2025
Debra Carlson and Gwendolyn Morgan had the pleasure of attending the first annual Pilchuck Casting Conference. Every day was packed, and I do mean packed, with demos and knowledge to absorb. Everything casting and more.
They stayed in one of the rustic-ly charming cabins at the top of the DANGED hill ... if you have ever been there, you will know that 'DANGED' is putting it mildly when describing the hill to the cabins. Meal times were a great time to share notes, ideas, and have all-around great conversations - a huge mild meld of sorts. It was great seeing old friends, meeting online friends face-to-face (finally), and making new friends.
The Pilchuck setting is completely inspirational, and now it's time to put that new knowledge to work.
If you get a chance to go to Pilchuck for anything .. go! You will not be disappointed.

Members Gallery Online
Let folks know your and your art! Have you sent in your info? This is for GAC members and for the Public visiting our site.
Our Member Gallery is now on our website. Check it out here.
We had initially offered to add multiple pictures per person, if desired. However, due to the way the website is currently set up, that would make upkeep difficult. But not to worry, I will be rebuilding our site over the next 6-12 months, and then we will be able to offer that service.
In the meantime, we can list one image per member -- you can choose to either have a picture of yourself posted, OR a sample of your work. In addition, we can include information such as studio names, links to websites, location, email, phone number -- the amount of information posted is completely up to you. ONLY THE INFORMATION THAT YOU WANT INCLUDED WILL BE SHARED
If you do not send us your information, we will only list your name as a member.
Please send Gwendolyn Morgan, designer@mountaingirlglass.com , your desired information right away, as she is working to get the gallery up as soon as possible. Thanks much.

FOR SALE: Skutt HotspotPro and FireBox 14
I recently bought a larger kiln and don’t have room for my old one, a Skutt HotspotPro and FireBox 14. It is a 2008 that has had two owners, both of whom are selling it after getting larger kilns. It is a workhorse! It is very easy to operate. The electrical requirements are: voltage 115, amps 15, watts 1690, wire size (gauge) 12, breaker size 20, max temperature is 1650, and NEMATODE receptacle 5-15. I have the manual for it, and it includes a shelf.
I am asking $450 for it.
